How the Audiology Milestone Project Works
(the description below will be simplified and put into illustration format)
During a visit with your audiologist that coincides with the timing of an Auditory Milestone, the audiologist will give you a card with the Auditory Milestone website address and a code that can be used once to access the free gift of your choice. Once you’ve gone to the website, you’ll select the type of device that you use (e.g., hearing aid, bone anchored device, or cochlear implant). On the next screen, you will select the age/grade that is closest to your current age/grade. This will take you to a page with a message about the Auditory Milestone that is associated with your current developmental stage. You’ll see items that support achieving this milestone (e.g., if the milestone involves alerting to an alarm clock so a child can independently wake up to get ready for their day, you’ll find an alarm clock that can be set loudly and provide a flashing light and vibration). You may already have a good solution to support the specific milestone, so you’ll find other gifts as well (e.g., Barnes and Noble gift cards, device bling, etc.).
